Summer

Crashing Tides.

Crashing Tides.

I’m shooting down around the Gold Coast today, so thought it would be a good time to throw up some shots I took last time I was down that way.

It was a beautifully stormy day – perfect beach weather in my eyes – and there was just something about the city skyline in the distance, the foamy white crashing against the rocks, and the guys committed to taming their wave.

It was a great excuse to play with one of my longer lenses, and it felt great snapping shots of blue while my toes where buried in the cold, pale sand.

How choppy is that little patch of sea. Can you see the shadows that look like two dogs jumping about in the waves?

Summer Mountain Hike – Pt III

Summer Mountain Hike – Pt III

Remember my trip up to the mountains on that 40+ degree day?

When we reached the end of the trail, the soft smell of water and loud cheers of delight over took our senses, and we raced down the final descent to join in the fun.

The shade was amazing, the water refreshing, and the hike well worth it.

We stripped down to our swimmers and ventured in.

Because of the lack of rain, the usually heavy waterfall drop was at almost a trickle. This didn’t stop kids and adults having fun jumping in from the rock face and swimming under the steady stream below.

It was hard work to stay afloat in the fresh water, but it was so worth it.

I’m pretty glad that Summer is over and the days are getting cooler, but I did have some great times in the sun.

The Grounds of Alexandria

The Grounds of Alexandria

Just a short drive from the hassle and bustle of the Sydney International Airport is The Grounds of Alexandria – a stylized eclectic mix of gardens, aged structures and gourmet delicacies.

The gardens are quite massive, and create an enticing juxtaposition of man made structures and natural flora.

Inside the Cafe, the urban elements of the warehouse-like structure take control, and you find yourself surrounded by the sights and smells of the fresh pastries and bread.

Your eyes and your taste buds are instantly drawn to the bright pops of coloured tarts, cakes and sweet delicacies.

Now we all know what really counts – and that’s good coffee. My poison takes the form of a short, double shot soy latte, I find that with so many elements involved it can be quite easy to miss the mark. Temperature, taste and texture are my three main testing points, and I was more than satisfied with the offering from The Grounds.

There was definitely city vibes inside The Grounds Cafe, but not at all in a negative way. You felt like you were just a step away from the hustle and bustle – an excellent place to talk excitedly about future plans and adventures in your day.

Amongst the sprawling gardens you will find not only the Cafe and Bakehouse, but also the Research Facility – the on-site coffee roasting, research and testing facility. There are so many elements that make up The Grounds, and it is truly an adventure to wander and sight them all.
