Summer

Raaawr.

Up in the mountain town of Maleny, there is a whole world of hidden shops and cafes with so much to offer.

On my road trip last weekend, we scouted out a fresh, cool lunch to replenish our energy levels from the hike and save us from the summer heat.

The Kind Living Cafe is a rad little place to sit and snack, and the menu was bursting. After much deliberation, my friend Aki and I both decided on the Salad Bowl – the salad of the week was a spiral-y goodness, topped with a nutty pesto.

Even after being veg for almost two handfuls of years, I’m normally still under the proviso that you do not, in fact, make friends with salad. But with more offerings like this I could definitely start to come around…!

I have to say, my favourite part was the accompanying raw pumpkin crackers – so moreish!

Aki grabbed a coconut and mango smoothy, whilst I hit the juice angle and went for a cold pressed apple and something.

If it wasn’t such a ridiculously hot day, I would have gone for something a bit heavier – namely the cabbage and cauliflower kofta balls. They sound amazing. Next time!

If you find yourself in Maleny, or are looking for an excuse to get out of the city for the weekend, make sure you check The Kind Living Cafe. It’s a big thumbs up from me.
